BCB LAUNCH C-IED LAUNCHER
BCB International, a long established designer and manufacturer of quality survival and protective equipment has designed a unique piece of equipment, which counters the threat of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) globally. The Counter Improvised Explosive Device Launcher (C-IED) is non-explosive, accurately controlled and can be fired remotely from up to 500 meters away.
The C-IED Launcher incorporates the design advances made with two of BCB products the Wall Breaching System (WBS) and Sea Stinger. Using a reliable method of triggering IED switches from up to 300 meters away and detonating a small charge when the projectile is at a set height above the suspect device. This explosive charge has the power to spread the contents of the projectile over an area greater than 2 square meters with enough force to trigger the IED. As a result, the user is able to force a controlled explosion of a suspected IED.
In order to increase efficiency and accuracy, the projectile has been aerodynamically designed. The charge has been extensively tested to obtain optimum and reliable detonation. Due to the range and use of material in the projectile, the user has the power to defeat several IEDs ranging from Victim Operated, buried and suspect/dummy devices. Moreover, the system has the flexibility of either being man-portable or vehicle mounted for ease of transport.
Andrew Howell, the Managing Director of BCB International added: “ With as many as over 70% of British soldiers and 50% of American soldiers killed by IED’s in Afghanistan, BCB International’s innovation is to save lives and to ensure the safety of our soldiers in combat”.
