Blast Boxers on Show at Counter Terror

Visitors to the Counter Terror Expo in Olympia, London (25-26 April) can look forward to seeing a pair of boxer shorts which are helping to protect soldiers against blast injuries caused by the Taliban’s roadside bombs in Afghanistan.

Blast Boxers

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) are the single biggest cause of deaths and injuries to troops serving in Afghanistan.  To help protect our troops from IED related injuries to the groin area, Cardiff-based survival equipment specialists, BCB International Ltd, created a pair of boxer shorts made from Kevlar called ‘Blast Boxers’ which capture most of the fragments projected at them by an IED.

BCB International’s spokesperson, Philippe Minchin, said: “Ever since they came out on the market nearly two years ago, the Blast Boxers have been snapped up by not only soldiers but also their wives and girlfriends who want them to return home safe.  Soldiers who have worn the Blast Boxers in combat situations are telling us that they are making a real difference to their safety.”

The Blast Boxers will be on display at BCB’s stand G109

For over 50 years, BCB have designed and manufactured a wide range of quality military equipment.  Their excellence has been recognised through two Queen’s Awards for Export Achievement as well as the acclaimed Wales Innovation Award 2010.

BCB is approved to ISO 9001:2008 International Quality Standard.
