Drash and “UK's Leading Independent Medical Supplier,” Xograph, Produce World’s Smallest Medical Imaging Facility

When thinking about a medical X-ray facility, a large, static building full of high-tech equipment typically comes to mind. Usually, this type of facility is located within a larger hospital complex which may be geographically distant from a crisis or medical situation.  There is a need among the medical first response community for a more flexible and mobile solution.

Portable Military X-ray Facility

DHS Systems International, the proud global provider of Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelters (DRASH) is partnering with Xograph Healthcare to provide a small, portable X-ray facility.

The facility combines the DRASH C Series Shelter and the Xograph dDrgo imaging system, and provides lightweight, mobile, rapidly deployable X-ray services to remote regions. With this facility, medical staff can provide imaging services without access to a hospital or clinic. Personnel who will benefit are military, crisis relief organizations and NGOs working outside the normal realm of established medical facilities. Having the ability to administer or receive X-rays where it was previously unavailable is a major breakthrough. Now, military or civilian patients in rural or outlying regions can receive imaging services despite their location. As the system is digital, the images can be sent electronically anywhere in the world for consultant-level advice, saving valuable time in accurate diagnosis.

The DRASH C Series Shelter and the Xograph dDrgo Imaging System combine to form an efficient solution for medical imaging services. The DRASH C Series Shelter, the smallest of the five available shelters, enables a quick setup/strike time. With minimal personnel the shelter can be set up or dismantled in less than 15 minutes. The dDRGo imaging system is equally rapid in its deployment, as it does not require calibration and is ready to function as soon as it is set up. The system delivers low X-ray doses and yields low power consumption.

The whole facility is lightweight and man-portable, packing into a single vehicle and comes with its own generator and associated medical furniture ‘High quality imaging is an integral part of patient treatment.  This facility allows imaging services to be brought to the patient, almost to the point of injury, and can only be of benefit to the medical first responder’ said Jon Davis the DHS Systems International Project Leader.

Equipment within the portable facility can be used for scenarios other than medical. Forensic investigations, archaeological digs, public events and security tasks are all practical applications of the compact X-ray facility.
