Enterprise Control Systems Ltd Celebrates the Grand Opening of ‘Building 4’

The Grand Opening Ceremony for the brand new office facility at Enterprise Control Systems Ltd (ECS) took place last Friday at the ECS Technology Park in Wappenham, Northants.

The new building brings all employees of ECS together in one location, housing the business development, finance and project teams as well as providing further lab and workshop space on the ground floor.

The ceremony commenced with opening speech from company CEO Colin Bullock, where he welcomed guests including Andrea Leadsom, local Conservative MP who was later to cut the ribbon, unveil the plaque and officially open the building along with representatives from the local Parish Council, Julian Nettlefold from Battlespace Magazine, Chairman of ECS Major General Peter Gilchrist and MD of Phoenix Aerospace Tony Okill.

Colin went on to provide a short history of how the company has evolved since he decided to start his own business back 1987 from his back bedroom in Silverstone, then going on to expand into an industrial unit in Litchborough where he took on his first employees Julian Floyd and Sue Haysey, who have remained with ECS and are now company Directors.  When the Litchborough premises proved to be too small, the decision was made to move to Wappenham into some ‘old barns that needed a little repair work’ and there was no looking back.  ECS designed and developed the world’s first COFDM Helicopter Downlink and it flew from Wappenham in 2001 – this equipment has since been supplied all over the world and has transformed the availability of situational awareness for both Police and Military users.

Since then, the company has continued to expand and now employs approximately 85 staff at the new ECS Technology Park in Wappenham, Northants.

Colin then handed over to Andrea Leadsom, Conservative MP who congratulated ECS for the valuable work it does within the security industry and its contributions to the country’s export industry as well as taking on and helping many local youngsters through University and seeing them progress into successful, senior members of the company.

Andrea Leadsom then carried out the official unveiling of the plaque and cut through the red ribbon to officially open the new building (as seen above).

Afterwards, refreshments were provided which included a large celebration cake in the shape of the ECS Technology Park.
