GUARTEL TECHNOLOGIES SIGNS THE ARMED FORCES COVENANT

Guartel Technologies, a global leader in the design, manufacture and servicing of specialist mine, cable and IED detectors, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant. 

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

The event took place on Wednesday 3 October at Lincoln’s Inn Army Reserve Centre, London. Guartel Technologies, which supplies the Defence Industry globally, has, for over 35 years, been a market leader in the design and manufacture of specialist detectors for use in CIED, Search and EOD operations. Guartel’s products are in-service with the UK MoD, police forces, UN, NGOs, NATO and other military forces world-wide.

The Covenant was co-signed by Major General Ben Bathurst, General Officer Commanding London District, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

Following the signing, the London Ballet Company gave a moving performance of a specially adapted WW1 piece, entitled Poppy.

Paul Gaston, Director of Guartel, stated: “Signing the Armed Forces Covenant today simply confirmed an ethos, practice and conviction we have all had since the incorporation of our company. The words of the Covenant resonate loudly with us all.”

Guartel also financially supports The Explora Foundation, which was established in 2011, to provide academic scholarship support to the dependents of members of the UK Armed Forces and Security Services who have lost their lives, become seriously injured or permanently disabled in the service of their country. The Foundation aims to develop and extend the knowledge and practice of physical protection to reduce the risks to those in government service in the future as well.

One recipient of an Explora Foundation scholarship, who attended the event, is Captain Dave Henson, ex-Royal Engineers. Dave is currently studying for a PhD in Bioengineering at the Imperial College London.
