Horstman Defence Systems continues to recruit and support apprenticeships
Horstman continues to recruit during these challenging times, having recently recruited three new apprentices, a long term temporary employee who has decided to pursue a career in engineering, and two external candidates. One who was being made redundant from a local engineering firm, the other a local school leaver. This brings our total apprentice number to 7, or 6% of our current workforce.
In addition we have had two summer placement students working in our Engineering department over the summer, one studying Electronic & Electrical Engineering at the University of Chichester and the other studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Surrey. Both were recruited following a virtual interview process, and were largely working and being managed remotely – despite this both students enjoyed their placements with Horstman, they gained valuable experience and provided a good contribution to the business during their time here.
Unfortunately, we have been unable to offer our normal school work experience placements this year due to the Covid-19 situation however, we hope to be able to welcome local school students back in 2021 and in the meantime we are supporting Bath College student placements where we can.
