Marshall Land Systems Submits Offset Returns

Offset Reports Submitted and Targets met, Programmes on track
Marshall Land Systems, the Cambridge based Land Systems Vehicle and Protected Workspace Integrator and Capability Solution Provider, is pleased to announce that it has recently submitted its annual returns for its Offset Obligations to a number of Governments. These returns show that MLS is on track to meet or exceed its offset obligations on all its programmes.

Deployable Hospital and Medical Units

The largest obligation, $25M resulting from the supply of deployable Hospital and Medical Units to Norway, is being addressed in a number of ways. MLS has set up a local company - MSV Norway, which acts to support the hospitals by employing local people and placing maintenance contracts with local companies. Marshall Land Systems has also set up a joint programme with Nordic Power Systems to assist in the development of their silent diesel powered fuel cell. Marshall in addition to militarizing the Nordic Power Supply technology is assisting in the development of the technology.

Joint promotion and sales work continues with other Norwegian companies such as Camp Supply International (camp container based systems facilities), NODIN (medical evacuation and transport systems), and Lenco Systems (Software). Discussions are underway with others e.g. Kongsberg Devotek (Design) as to how best to move forward. So far the programme is ahead of plan with over 50% of obligation being either identified or delivered before the mid-point of the programme. This would not have been possible without the excellent assistance provided by the Norwegian Defence Trade Association FSI to advise on prospective partners and the Industrial Co-operation Office at NDLO for their advice on potential partners and offset procedures.

In Denmark, where Marshall Land Systems hopes to be invited to take part in a number of projects, MLS is already banking offset credits obtained by selecting Danish supply partners for its existing international projects. These include DANTHERM (air conditioning) and IB ANDRESEN (metalwork parts).

Commenting on these achievements Peter Callaghan CEO of Marshall Land Systems said “Offset and all the other forms of industrial participation or capability improvement is something Marshall Land Systems takes extremely seriously. We work hard to establish our partners before we even bid on a programme and then work equally hard to deliver the commitment. In addition to these activities we are already working with partner companies in Australia, Netherlands, Canada and South Africa in anticipation of future contracts. Successful discharge of our obligations is a business fundamental as far as we are concerned. In addition to meeting the government requirements we have found it to be a very effective way of increasing our capability and portfolios.”
