REGENERATION AND SUPPORT FOCUS BY MARSHALL LAND SYSTEMS AT PROTECTED MOBILITY 2011

Cambridge, 22nd June 2011;  Marshall Land Systems (MLS) (www.marshall-ls.com)  capabilities in regeneration and support feature in their display at the Protected Mobility Display and Sustainment Conference being held at Millbrook, Bedfordshire on 22 and 23 June 2011.

Building vehicle pods, modules and ground based shelters coupled with re-generation has been part of MLS’s capabilities for many years.  Examples of this include the Power Pack Repair Facility (PPRF) which the company regenerated following a detailed requirements capture process and assessment of the units; a complete refurbishment of the Run Up Trolleys used to test and maintain Challenger 2 and its derivatives, and supply of a UOR workshop used in the in theatre updating of the Viking All Terrain Vehicle. An example of this type of expandable shelter is on show.

The Marshall Equipment Prime Mover (EPM) developed to meet the need to move personnel and equipment in a protected environment is on the display. The EPM offers protection from climatic, chemical, biological and radiological agents, ballistic and blast threats, while giving the flexibility to carry and handle cargo. The vehicle is fitted with a crew carrying compartment, crane and vehicle winch all of which allow it to carry out a variety of tasks, including towing field artillery or trailered loads, whilst carrying a protected detachment and the stores or munitions to allow rapid into action times and sustained operation in the front line.  The EPM is an example of how MLS can work with vehicle OEMs to provide a manpower saving system using standard vehicles for specific tasks. Another is the load bed for the Thales Bushmaster utility.

Integral to this capability is the ability to upgrade survivability solutions which are a key aspect of regenerating the vehicles in service or likely to be taken through to Force 2020.  Lorica Survivability Systems Ltd, a JV and part of MLS will be on the MLS stand to discuss this capability including the use of armour, seating and defensive aid suites and other survivability solutions.

To support vehicle fleets MLS, through its subsidiary Marshall Fleet Solutions (MFS), has considerable experience in maintaining diesel, hydraulic, electrical and electronic, mechanical and temperature control systems and fleet management, as well as fitting vehicle sub systems across the commercial market. MFS is deploying these skills and its 24/7 call centre to provide a similar solution to the defence market. MFS support staff will be at the show to discuss this capability.
