Russian doll-like Portable Outdoor Cooker - The Crusader

UK based survival equipment specialists, BCB International Ltd, have developed a portable field cooker called the 'Crusader' which uses environmentally friendly solid ethanol fuel made from sugar beet and boils 500ml of water in five minutes.

BCB International’s spokesperson, Philippe Minchin, said: "The Crusader Cooker has already sparked great interest because it includes some neat touches to make life easier for dismounted soldiers. Its Russian Doll-like design whereby all the cooking gear a soldier needs in the field (Cup Canteen, cooker, water bottle, flint and striker) slot inside each other,  means that it can fit snugly inside a standard issue PLCE bottle pouch for ease of transport and use.

“The Hard Anodised Aluminium cup which doubles as a cooking pot, sports an insulated rim to prevent unwelcome lip burn. To speed up boil time and reduce the smoke it gives off, the cooker also has a wind shield and heat exchanger.

Weighing in at 312 grams, the compact Crusader is a lightweight outdoor all in one cooking system that can be easily stowed away in a soldier’s daysack.

With the Crusader Cooker, our troops can wave goodbye to wasting time and energy gathering tinder wood because the device comes with the ethanol fuel sachets which are easy to light."

BCB will be Exhibiting some of its products at Stand 46
