Piedrafita is a highly technological company dedicated to the design, development and certification of mobility solutions for special vehicles operating in the most challenging environments.
It was founded in 1987 as a motorsport design and engineering company achieving remarkable success in the Spanish and World Rally Championship. In 1995 the first collaboration with the defence sector took place, with the instrumentation of the first prototype of the armoured Pizarro for the Spanish army.
With a track record of almost 40 years, Piedrafita Group operates in the defence industry with 3 business units. Piedrafita Systems is involved in the design, development, testing and certification of mobility solutions for vehicles operating in the most challenging environments. Prognostics specialises in comprehensive data management with a long history of acquisition in almost all military vehicles. DefPower developed a broad portfolio of militarised power distribution units (MILPDUs), based on solid state technology.

Piedrafita Systems is a leading designer and manufacturer of rotary dampers. Its patented, lightweight and efficient designs improve the mobility of heavy land platforms. They are more compact and dissipate more energy, optimising performance and installation on new vehicles or retrofits of legacy platforms.
The Hydropneumatic Rotary Suspension System for Armoured Vehicles, SRB, is the result of a collaborative framework with European companies, where Piedrafita is the leader of the project framed in the European Defence Industrial
Development Programme (EDIDP 2020 and EDF 2023).
The Hydropneumatic Linear Suspension columns are an integrated design solution optimised for the mobility of all types of vehicles. Their easy integration and modularity make them particularly suitable for both new vehicle designs and upgrading legacy platforms.
In addition to advanced hydropneumatic suspension systems, both rotary and linear, it offers other specific solutions, such as track tensioners, which directly influence the mobility of both metal and rubber track vehicles, their fuel consumption, comfort, crew safety and service life.
Digitalisation of suspension and vehicle use
The DSC (Digital Suspension Controller) represents the beginning of the digital era in suspension.
- The severity of use of the vehicle (Terrain detection, km travelled...) * The diagnosis of the suspension components.
- Diagnosis of the running gear elements (shock absorbers, suspension, chain tensioner, drive train, etc.).
- Traceability of components (real configuration of the vehicle without human intervention).

SOLID-STATE POWER DISTRIBUTION UNITS FOR ARMOURED VEHICLES
The increasing demand for electrical power in armoured vehicles has made the electrical architecture a critical element in their design. Piedrafita DefPower has therefore developed a broad portfolio of militarised power distribution units (MILPDUs). These devices replace the traditional relay and fuse boxes inside vehicles. Based on solid state technology they are incredibly compact and much more reliable, providing the following advantages:

Piedrafita Prognostics specialises in comprehensive data management. With Almost 40 years of experience in on-vehicle data acquisition in highly demanding environments, Piedrafita Prognostics has a long history of acquisition in almost all military vehicles.
Our Smart Logger product range, is the essential technological building block for any intelligent diagnostic or maintenance ahead of time system (HUMS). Compatible with modern NGVA architectures or in stand-alone mode on board existing platforms, its data generation and processing capacity enables the digitalisation of complete vehicles or subsystems such as the powertrain, suspension or a weapon system (artillery or turret).
