By utilising our engineering resource Westwire Harnessing can add value at the initial design stage of an electrical system. The wealth of product knowledge, technical solutions and harnessing experience gained from working in the industry for many years can be used to offer preferred product solutions and will ensure superior quality of the final cable assembly.
Military Manufacturing of Ruggedised Harness Systems
Westwire Harnessing have been manufacturing ruggedised harness systems since the 1980’s, the company came about from the demise of Raychem’s harnessing production facility in Swindon. Created in 1986 to support the Rapier Generator System for Keelavite Ltd, subsequently became part of Raychem’s strategy to support harness manufacture through preferred sub-contract support. Westwire Harnessing supported Raychem on all of their military and marine harnessing programs aiding to their success.
Westwire is located in three facilities, two in Swindon and a third in Cinderford. We are AS9100 and are an SC21 Signatory and can call on more than 140 years of cable assembly experience between the Directors and Senior Management.

Cable Assembly Design and Rapid Prototyping
Contracting with Westwire early in the design process enables us to utilise our considerable experience in cable assembly design, allowing us to work together with our customers early on in the process to define their requirements with ease of manufacture, durability and cost effectiveness as paramount.
Westwire now has an additional 5200 Sq/Ft in Swindon to house our new engineering department, prototype lab and rapid prototyping facilities, effectively doubling our footprint in Swindon.
On-Site Military Cable Assembly and Installation
Westwire can provide staff to attend customer sites to install or oversee installation of cable assemblies.
Advice can be given on best practise as regards cable assembly design and manufacture.
Specialist Military Harnesses and Cable Assemblies
Through our long association with key suppliers and historical expertise in this Industry, we can and do specify a plethora of ruggedised components when designing and building cable assemblies, particularly those used in demanding environments.

Utilising what we see as an ‘adjacent’ skill to cable assembly manufacture, we also produce interconnection boxes – a complete interconnection solution provision.
Extended Capacity Provision
Due to recent expansion, We are now able to offer a ‘surge capacity’ provision to those OEM’s and System manufacturers who currently manufacture harnesses but who find themselves logistically challenged when considering new business capture.
Westwire will consider manufacture to ‘Build to Print’ and will engage with customers to ensure that the design has been optimised so that manufacturing process is as efficient as is possible.
