Losberger RDS

Since decades the Losberger Group has worked on design, development and manufacturing of an extensive and comprehensive range of tents and halls for our customers in the fields of special events, business, civil defense and military operations at the highest levels of quality, service and after-sales. Losberger Rapid Deployment Systems is the result of a merger of the companies TMB, Bachmann and Autoflug Inflatable Structures.
Losberger RDS is the military subsidiary of Losberger France SAS, former Walter SAS and has been successfully supplying products for the civilian emergency, disaster control, humanitarian relief, decontamination and military markets for over 20 years.

Our expertise in these sectors is a result of bespoke patented designs and the highest standards of manufacturing, well-trained and experienced craftsmen and the use of the finest quality of materials.  Most RDS structures are designed for military use and can be rapidly deployed to provide fast and effective protection to people and valuable equipment. In the event of an emergency or where there is a requirement for immediate deployment, Losberger Rapid Deployment Shelters can supply a variety of products that are suited for short or long term use.  Losberger RDS offers global solutions, from an initial design proposal, to supply, installation and maintenance.  Most of our products have a NATO stock number.

Fast Deployable Shelters (AMD)

The ultra-fast deployable AMD shelters are designed primarily to serve as maintenance shops, but perform equally well as meeting rooms or reception and conference areas. The AMD is packed on a trailer, a container platform or semi-trailer with a hydraulic self-erecting system.

The covered floor space is 60m², 120m², 250m² or 340m², depending on the model. Assembling an AMD is ultra-fast: for instance, the AMD 60 is deployed in less than 10 minutes by just one person.

Modular Shelter Systems (P16)

Modular shelters are primarily used as dry air storage, maintenance halls or serve as garages. Permanently or semi-permanently installed, they are anchored to a flat platform. They may also be installed and weighted down by steel/concrete blocks or water tanks.

Complete waterproofness makes it possible to control the interior humidity of the shelter. Access is made possible through 1 or 2 fully opening gable ends or via roll-up doors (4.50 m x 4.50 m).
These shelters can be transported in 20’ containers or on aircraft pallets.

Inflatable Tents (TAG NG 42)

The TAG inflatable NG tent is ready for use in just a few minutes thanks to its inflatable frame. The speed and ease of deployment make the TAG NG ideal as medical posts, command centers and emergency shelters for example. Its weatherproof and robust construction, along with a set of accessories, ensures the TAG NG's efficient use on any type of terrain and climatic condition. All tents can be carried by hand to the place of use. One or two persons using an electric inflator install the inflatable TAG NG tent in less than 5 minutes. Thanks to their modular design, the tents can be connected to each other in any direction (gable doors and side doors). The tent is made of durable fire and UV resistant PVC coated polyester fabric, using HF welding to construct the cover and floor into one enclosure.

Mobile Hospital/Field Hospital (Field Hospital TAG NG)

A first field hospital has been supplied to the Italian Red Cross of Lombardy in 2002. This hospital was configured out of tents ranging in size from 40 to 100 m², in compliance with the requirements of the Italian Ministry of Defense. The advantages were, above all, rapid deployment and modularity. A 42 m² tent can be erected by just 2 people in 3 to 5 minutes. The modularity of the structures allowed a suitable layout of the field wards and operation theatres depending on the circumstances of the location. The hospital has been used since for several missions and emergencies (Larino, Iraq, Sri Lanka). The cooperation with personnel of the Italian Red Cross of Lombardy who lived and worked in the structure was crucial for perfecting the product. Based on the feedback from the various field missions, the R&D and design department has focused all efforts on improving the tents on numerous details. The result of the cooperation with the Red Cross is the New 2007 Field Hospital. The next-generation pneumatic structures are perfect in modularity, durability and ease of maintenance. We supply inflatable field hospitals, whether or not in combination with (expendable) container for the OT, ICU and ablution for example, from a 2-bed medical post to a 150-bed and fully equipped turnkey solution.
Our inflatable field hospitals are in use by armies, emergency response units and humanitarian aid organizations around the world.

Inflatable Military CBRN Tents

Inflatable CBRN tents for collective protection of people against NBC threats.
These tents combine the rapid deployment of a TAG NG inflatable tent with a sealed NBC liner.

The living area inside the tent is over-pressured with filtered air. The entrance is fitted with an over-pressured air lock. The fabric NBC liner protects the persons inside against all toxic chemicals for a minimum of 24 hours.

Military Dome Shelters for Protection

Domes are dedicated to the protection and cover of sensitive equipment such as radars, missiles, vehicles or helicopters under extreme climate conditions. Composed of a galvanized steel frame and a heavy-duty PVC coated fabric caver, the domes are available in standards diameters of 9, 11, 13, 16 and 20 meters. The dome shelters can open extremely fast: operated by an electric gearbox, the opening and closing of the dome takes less than 3 seconds and is fitted with a manual safety system. Our specialized technicians provide worldwide service and support for all the systems we supply.

The company is a direct successor of the famous ZEPPELIN airships with a tradition of more than 100 years and still today, the company’s philosophy is expressed by the slogan “rooms on the move”. ZMS was one of the first manufacturers of lightweight containers in an aluminium-sandwich-structure and meanwhile their systems are in use in more than 40 countries all over the world. They have been delivered to a large number of international companies and governmental organizations as well as to non-governmental relief and first-aid organizations.

The product range of ZMS is divided into the following major business fields:

ZMC – Zeppelin Mobile Communication

Tactical communication shelters are one of the basic products in the shelter portfolio of ZMS. They have been sold more than 10,000 times, either as stand-alone units or vehicle-mounted. They have been delivered to various Armed Forces in all common sizes such as ACE I, II and III, NATO I + II as well as in the ISO formats as 10ft, 15ft or 20ft Shelter or custom-made. These suppliers also have to adhere to the high military quality standards that Zeppelin is committed to.

In addition hereto, ZMS also offers box-body ambulance vehicles for military use which can be adapted to any carrier vehicle whatsoever (Mercedes, Landrover, HUMMVE etc.).

ZMF – Zeppelin Mobile Facility

In addition to communication and medical applications, Zeppelin offers a wide range of other shelterized field systems. This ranges from individual products such a field kitchens, decontamination or water (treatment) and energy systems to complete field camp arrangements.

DefenCell

DefenCell - Rapidly deployed, lightweight, compact, non-metallic, earth filled protective barrier systems

DefenCell is a range of products that are designed and manufactured to provide protection for personnel, equipment and infrastructure against a wide selection of threats in the Security, Defence, Flood and Environmental sectors.

There are three main product groups in the DefenCell portfolio and a number of other complementary protection products available.

The products are:

  • DefenCell Barriers, non metallic cellular (Ballistic, Blast, HVM, UXO and Flood Protection),
  • DefenCell MAC, welded mesh gabions (Ballistic, Blast, HVM and Flood Protection).
  • DefenCell Profile, non metallic cellular (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) Barriers, Berms)

DefenCell - Barriers - non metallic cellular (Ballistic, Blast, HVM, UXO and Flood Protection)

The DefenCell Barrier is the result of a decade long investment in research, development and testing to create one of the most effective and versatile expeditionary protection systems available. A well-proven cellular construction combined with the strong geotextile material makes DefenCell a durable but lightweight and compact solution that is easily filled to provide protection to personnel and infrastructure from a variety of threats.

Designed by Engineers for Engineers, DefenCell is being used to provide protection to troops in harsh and often remote operational environments and is ideal for a wide range of Military and Security applications. Taking advantage of the small logistical burden of DefenCell's light weight and compact packaging, typical uses include protective walls, perimeter security, entry control points, ranges  and training operations.

DefenCell - Profile - non metallic cellular (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) Barriers, Berms)

DefenCell Profile is our cellular Hostile Vehicle Mitigation barrier, developed with advice from the UK Home Office, extensively tested in UK and USA and approved by CPNI (Centre for Protection of National Infrastructure) in UK and Dept of State in USA. It is the only CPNI approved geotextile barrier available and has been specified on many past, current and future security projects.

The increase in the threat from Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIED) and Hostile Vehicles has led to a need for effective protection systems to maintain maximum stand-off distance as well as blast mitigation in the event of an attack. DefenCell has been extensively and successfully tested against both VBIED and HVM and the cellular design dissipates energy along the length of the barrier very effectively.

DefenCell Profile is designed to provide perimeter security, from enhancing existing security systems and fences, to providing structural integrity to long perimeter barriers. DefenCell can be built to virtually any height and profiled to provide protection against specific threats. The Profile system has been successfully tested to UK PAS 68 Hostile Vehicle Protection standards and two standard versions are available to suit different threat levels. The ability of Profile to retain the suspect vehicle within the structure blocks a secondary attack.

DefenCell - MAC - welded mesh gabions (Ballistic, Blast, HVM and Flood Protection)

DefenCell MAC® is our range of protective welded mesh metal gabions lined with geotextile and supplied in several standard sizes and known in the US as the Expeditionary Barrier System (EBS). The EBS is available under long term contracts with US DOD and NATO procurement agencies and have been supplied to many other military forces, security services and NGO’s.

DefenCell MAC® gabions are filled with earth, sand or other locally available fill materials and provide ballistic protection, blast mitigation and HVM vehicle barriers. MAC can also be used for environmental applications and is ideal for flood protection.

DefenCell MAC® is constructed using the highest quality materials to established and tested standards by Maccaferri, the world's leading manufacturer of gabion structures, using heavily galvanised welded mesh panels combined with a heavy duty geotextile lining material created from UV resistant polymer fibre using the same advanced technology as the proven DefenCell fabrics.

DefenCell - Shooting Ranges - Government approved

Recent projects in USA, UK, France, Africa and South America for Ranges using DefenCell, emphasise the excellent value and versatility of the products.

The Africa and South America ranges were both designed by Government authorities  specifying DefenCell products. DefenCell has been approved by, and appears in the range design handbooks of, the National Rifle Associations in UK and USA.

DefenCell - UXO (Unexploded Ordnance)

Tested and certified for explosive containment, DefenCell has been approved by the prestigious US Dept of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB). The requirements in the US for unexploded ordnance disposal are well documented as traditional ranges and training areas in US, Hawaii and other overseas locations are opened to public access and need to be cleared of old ordnance.  This is usually done by certified civilian contractors.

Ongoing engagement by DefenCell experts with DDESB in USA and the NATO EOD Centre of Excellence in Slovak Republic maintain our solutions in the forefront.

DefenCell - NGO’s and Civil contractors - bunkers, observation posts, compartmentalisation and fuel & ammunition storage

DefenCell Barriers have been widely deployed by the various NGO in Somalia, S Sudan, Chad, Mali and DRC as well as several other global locations. The light weight and portability of the Barriers lends itself to remote and austere locations while the MAC is used consistently to build perimeter security as well as bunkers, observation posts, compartmentalisation and fuel & ammunition storage protection.

Flood

DefenCell T2 Barrier and DefenCell MAC FE 3 (Flood & Emergency)  have both been successfully tested by ERDC and offer a lightweight and proven solutions to flood, coastal erosion and critical infrastructure protection.

Civil Protection

Physical protection of critical infrastructure.  The DefenCell Profile product range is ideal for both overt and discreet requirements.  The products have been extensively trialled and tested to protect against specified threats including Vehicles, IED’s, and holds Internationally recognised certification.  (PAS68 etc).

Proven Customers include Power Stations, Fuel farms, Airports, Border and Immigration posts, Police Stations as well as oil and gas installations.

DefenCell - Testing - Blast Mitigation, Speeding Vehicles, UXO and Flood Barriers

DefenCell products have been extensively and successfully tested during development against Ballistic Threats (Small arms to Rockets), Blast Mitigation, Speeding Vehicles, UXO (unexploded ordnance) and as Flood Barriers (both operationally and in laboratory conditions). An ongoing programme of further testing is part of the continued development of DefenCell products.

About Stonehaven Engineering Limited

Stonehaven Engineering Limited was founded in 1991. The Scottish Registered, private limited company was created to meet the requirements for a flexible, specialist service to the defence and other industries. One of our very first projects was to design and construct refrigerated containers for use at the British Army camp at Belize airport in Central America.

These were specifically designed and built as a temporary freezer/chill store to meet the extremes of temperature found in Central America. It is a measure of the unit’s robustness that the stores are still in use today – almost twenty years after it was delivered and installed as a temporary stop-gap.

This led to the British Antarctic Survey’s choice of Stonehaven Engineering as the best company to provide custom-built laboratories which could be easily shipped and installed at their site in some of the most extreme conditions to be found anywhere in the world.

We have built on these early successes, tackling a very wide range of projects and successfully achieving some of the most demanding specifications and design, build and fit out delivery schedules.

On site testing

The rough-and-tumble of action in the defence field and extreme environments leaves no room for weaknesses in equipment. We know that from years of experience and carry out the most rigorous testing programmes and procedures to ensure that our equipment can be installed rapidly and works efficiently and effectively – whatever the location and whatever the scenario.

Every component and unit we produce undergoes the fullest range of tests at Stonehaven before commissioning, despatch and delivery.

And, for peace of mind, a full test manual is provided with every one of our products so that the customer can carry out their own tests following identical procedures to ensure that the unit will do its job as and when it is needed.

Military Rapid Deployment Shelter Design Expertise

Our design team use the latest CAD systems at the design stage to ensure that every product will meet its individual requirements. It’s a completely flexible service which can tackle projects ranging from rapid deployment shelters for desert conditions to converting a surplus fuel tanker into a mobile police command post.

The designs take into account a very wide range of factors governing the unit’s use including ambience, temperature, humidity, weather conditions, air conditioning, heating, internal drainage and the storage with recycling of water.

Containers can be designed for transport by sea, land or air, with the option of fixed, mobile or re-locatable usage. Versatility is built into many of our product designs so that the same unit can be re-located from high temperature environments like the Middle East to the Falkland Islands with no modification.

Designs also take into account local power sources to ensure that once the unit it set up on location, it can interface with the defined power source immediately.

Defence is a dynamic, rapidly changing industry, and our innovatory approach makes it possible for us to respond to these changes swiftly. For example, we have met the growing demand for DROPS – Demountable Rack Off-loading Pick-up Systems products - and produced containers for this application.

These are specifically designed for rapid deployment so they can be loaded and unloaded in a matter of minutes and put into service immediately. A number of Stonehaven DROPS units have seen service in the recent Iraq conflict and the desert operations which followed.

The Best Components

We source the best available components with a proven record of reliability. These range from major items like refrigeration units and heavy-duty washing machines to the smallest details – down to the best taps and showerheads for use in shower facilities for combat conditions. Tenders include comprehensive spares packages.

By choosing and working with the best suppliers, we ensure that clients benefit from our suppliers’ worldwide product support networks.

Meeting the Specification

Our containers and other assemblies can be designed to meet the highest specification standards of fire ratings, acoustic levels, radio frequency interference (RFI),and pressurised for protection against nuclear, biological and chemical contaminations (NBC).

On Site Construction

Each container or assembly is constructed and fitted out at our Stonehaven facility. The construction techniques and materials used for the main ‘outer shell’ of our containers can vary from mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium skin, armour plating, glass reinforced plastic, composite or sandwich panels. All units are generally constructed to withstand the varying climatic and environmental conditions which can occur in multi-location operations.

Featured Products:

J Series Side Mounted Large Screen Display Systems

This quarter’s featured product is the J Series Side Mounted Large Screen Display System. It is the newest addition to the DRASH Deployable Command and Control Equipment.

The purpose of the J Series Side Mounted Large Screen Display System is to increase mobility throughout DRASH shelters by eliminating the need to set up DC2E along the shelters' width. Instead, the new Side Display System posts on the shelters' length. Such a design enables personnel and equipment to move freely throughout the length of a DRASH shelter without restriction. The new design also allows military personnel to connect various shelters as needed to increase the size of the overall system.

Rapid Military Deployable Shelter Systems

DRASH Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelters are the epitome of quick and efficient soft walled technology. Superior protective elements and reliable features are what make these shelters so functional and unique. All shelters are rapidly deployable and structured with an advanced, highly flexible composite material called Titanite®. The shelter’s frame is comprised of pairs of Titanite® struts that connect at key points in the framework called hubs. These hubs allow for rapid deployment, as they enable the entire shelter to be pushed up and out swiftly without additional assembly.  The shelter comes pre-attached with a double layer of Xytex, a high-tech fabric that provides insulation from hot and cold temperatures.  The specially coated fabric is fire retardant, water repellant and resistant to mildew, abrasion and ultraviolet rays.

DRASH Shelters come in a variety of sizes and divide into separate categories according to their width.  Beginning with the smallest C Series shelter, at 109 square ft. (2.3 meters) and ending with the largest J Series shelter, at 1,250 square ft. (116 meters), the range in size accommodates a diversity of client needs.  In addition, every shelter is easily connectable to any other shelter regardless of the series or model.
A key component to the DRASH Shelter System is the Utility Support Trailer (UST).  A UST is an integrated support system designed to provide mobility, power and or environmental control for all DRASH shelters.  USTs come in various models, tailoring to the energy needs of every mission. Depending on the model, a UST comes equipped with a generator and/or ECU. Models that are equipped with ECUs enable the shelters to function in harsh climates. Some trailers incorporate a new energy efficient Intelligent Power Technology (IPT), while other trailers have traditional analog systems.  All trailers are operable in rough terrain, and are easily towable by military vehicles.
Every element within a DRASH Shelter System has undergone rigorous testing to meet all Military Standard Requirements.

Intelligent Power Technology™ - IPT

Interconnectable Trailer-Mounted Generators

Intelligent Power Technology (IPT) is a reflection of DHS’s effort toward creating energy efficient products. The DRASH IPT enables users to interconnect various trailer-mounted generators to form a micro grid of networked power.

When activated, each generator responds to real time power demands. The system is self-adjusting but users have the ability to monitor activity from inside the Tactical Operations Center.  Because IPT responds to the user’s power needs, it eliminates wasted energy expenditure in unoccupied areas of the shelter. Having, IPT reduces unused energy, which ultimately minimizes unnecessary fuel costs.

Deployable Command and Control Equipment (DC2E)

DRASH Deployable Command and Control Equipment (DC2E) encompasses projector systems, audio visual switching systems and system accessories , all designed to facilitate information management on the battlefield.

DC2E equipment is portable and lightweight so setting up and dismantling requires minimal time and few personnel.  Front/Rear Projection Systems are available with Medium, Large, and now Side Mounted Screen Displays. Audio Visual Systems include Mini, Small, Medium and Large variants.  An Intelligent Data Distribution System, Microphone System, Clock System, IPT Remote Monitor and Tactical Utility Field Furniture are additional accessories that complete the DC2E line.
