Tyron Runflat Limited

Tyron has developed a range of solutions to keep wheeled vehicles moving safely in the event of a sudden tyre deflation.

Created following extensive consultation with both end users and tyre manufacturers, Tyron's solutions have been extensively tested and proven in the harshest conditions.

The company's two product families are the Tyron All Terrain Rubber Runflat or ATR and the Tyron Multiband. In both cases these have been designed to allow for the changing of tyres without the need for specialist equipment.

Multipart All-Terrain
Rubber Runflat (ATR)

Tyron has developed and patented a multipart rubber runflat, suitable for fitting to a wide range of military and security force off road vehicles.

Made out of rubber, the Tyron ATR absorbs the shocks from bumps more effectively than a hard composite solution and reduces the damage to both the wheel and the tyre, so that both have the potential of being re-used when repairs have been carried out.

Using rubber also gives the passengers inside the vehicle a more comfortable ride in the case of a tyre burst, which enables them to be in better shape to carry out their task.

The patented multi part design allows the fitter to change a tyre at the side of the road without special tools.

Tyron's rubber runflats are designed with beadlock, which prevents the wheel slipping inside the tyre, this allows the vehicle to continue on its mission and get back to base. This is not possible using other materials.

Complete Wheel Assembly for All Terrain Environments

Working together with Global Wheels of South Africa, Tyron is able to provide a complete wheel and tyre solution fit for the most demanding environments.

These combine the strength of the bolt together with steel or aluminium wheels, along with the multipiece Tyron ATR to provide a very high level of road performance, which is not possible with a composite solution.

Distance and Speed Testing and Ballistic Protection

Tyron's ATR solution has been extensively tested in accordance with the internationally recognised Finabell standards for distance and speed. During all the tests the Tyron ATR far exceed the requirements.

The ATR has been ballistically tested. Five shots were fired into the side of the runflat and two into the tread area from 50m with an AK47 using 7.62mm bullets and an M16 using 5.56mm rounds.

Special effort was made to hit the fixings with one round making a direct hit on the fixing head, which ricocheted off and another hitting the washer and was absorbed.

The other three simply passed through the rubber system. The two shots into the tread area around the fixings were absorbed and none of the shooting had any effect on the performance of the runflat system.

The same test was also carried out at only 25m with the same results. In total, 35 rounds were fired at the runflat with no structural integrity damage.

Multiband for Defence and Security

Developed by Avon Tyres in the 1970s for the Royal Ulster Constabulary, the Tyron Multiband is designed to keep the tyre firmly in place on the wheel, allowing the vehicle to be driven to a safe place to change the tyre.

The Tyron Multiband is in use on a wide range of vehicles including police and fire vehicles, ambulances, and cash-in-transit vehicles.

In all cases where Tyron Multibands are fitted, it is to ensure that the tyre stays in place in the event of a 'blow out' and ensures the driver can manoeuvre the vehicle to safety.

Will-Burt Germany

Will-Burt Germany provides high-quality mobile mast systems and trailer solutions for military and security / rescue forces. They are used around the world: the armed forces of Germany, its NATO allies and other likeminded nations. Will-Burt Germany has progressively turned into a global player with subsidiaries and partners on every continent.

Customized Trailer Systems for Extreme Requirements

The object of Will-Burt Germany is the development, project planning, construction and system integration of our customized trailer systems. We carry out and follow your plan from A to Z. Special trailers for special tasks are our specialty. Many of our trailers are manufactured in small series. They are used by the German Army and other international forces. Our trailer systems are especially designed for missions involving extraordinary burdens in extreme and arduous terrain. High payloads in combination with low basic weights, maximum cross-country mobility, long life expectancy and low maintenance requirements are the characteristics of all Will-Burt Germany tactical trailers.

Range of Mobile Mast Systems

Our mast systems are used by international forces around the globe, including the German Army, to provide communications, surveillance, reconnaissance support etc. throughout the battlefield.

Man-portable Masts

The Expedition series (Ranger mast) is the lightest, most durable, rapid deploying, single man-portable field masts in the world. This system is equipped with lightweight payloads and can be deployed quickly by extending 1.2m sections to heights from 2.5m to a maximum of 18.3m. It’s our system for the ‘last mile’.

The AntennaMast AM2 model is a portable, lightweight, rugged, aluminum tripod mast designed for rapid payload deployment. The AM2 can raise multiple devices on an individual mast and is highly flexible and reliable. Users can lift and lower larger payloads in a secure way without disassembling the mast system by using the EZ Raze™ system and its safety brake and cable winching device. The mast tube lift winch supplies mechanical assistance for mast tube lifting for heavier payloads, and the mast tubes and payload can also be elevated by breach loading the tubes through the tripod center collar.

Mechanical Masts:

Telescopic crank masts KVL and KVR (also called cable pulls) are for payloads up to 70kg and heights up to 20m. They are suited for heavy communication systems, monitoring solutions, direction finder, target detection systems, etc. and used by the market leaders. These masts uphold their reputation through their robustness and simple operation. The extension and retraction of this mast type is realized through a retractable rope and a separate return rope. This guarantees a reliable operation independent of the weather conditions.

Spindle-Driven Masts:

The Spindle mast SPM is currently the best available mast system on the market. Grown against the hardest requirements, the SPM is specifically designed for use with large payloads and very high demands of accuracy. The retracting and extension occur through special spindle systems. A special honing procedure of the aluminum tubes and the use of high-precision spindles enables the manufacturing of nearly backlash-free telescopic spindle masts for heights up to 18m and payloads up to 600kg!

Lattice Towers:

The spectrum of lattice towers starts with the ITS Towers. ITS offers an innovative line of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) tower solutions from 11.5m to 32m. Will-Burt Germany lattice towers are customized solutions, mounted on trucks or trailers, for heights up to 45m and payloads up to 1000kg. Our giants!

Port-A-Cool

Protecting our military heroes since 1990

Our military members deal with many dangers each day. They work around the clock patrolling the streets and countryside, keeping vehicles and aircraft in top working order, and participating in drills and warfare. Often they are required to preform these and many other duties in foreign climates and extreme heat.

High Temperatures and Heat Stress

Research has shown sustained high temperatures can lead to less than ideal work environments where heat stress can lower performance levels, reduce morale, and impair mental alertness. Ultimately, these factors can increase the risk of accidents and compromise personnel readiness.

Along with the mental impairments heat stress can cause the human body, there are several serious physical conditions it can inflict as well. When the body’s normal mechanisms for dealing with heat stress – sweating and temperature control – are lost, severe and potentially life-threatening heatstroke can occur. The main sign of heatstroke is a markedly elevated body temperature (generally greater than 104°F or 40°C). Victims can also experience changes in mental status, which can range from personality changes to confusion and even coma. The victim’s skin may be hot and dry; however, if heatstroke is caused by exertion the skin may be moist.

To avoid heat stress, experts recommend spot cooling and periods of rest in a cool area during physical exertion.

Weighing the Drawbacks of Typical Cooling Methods

Traditionally, air conditioning (A/C) is a go-to cooling method.  However, in large open spaces, the first impediment is the inability to close the space off and seal in air to achieve maximum cooling. Areas where outside doors will be open allow air to escape and render A/C an impractical solution.  Another drawback is air conditioners require compressors and a place to ventilate the heat generated from the compressor. This limits the mobility of an A/C unit given the fixed-ductwork and adds another point of heat generation. Harsh refrigerants and energy consumption are other downfalls. Refrigerants are an integral part of air conditioning systems to emit cool air, and A/C can pull a great deal of energy that translates to more energy expense.

Fans – both oscillating and ceiling options – seem like a quick, inexpensive fix to cooling. However, fans simply circulate stagnate air throughout the space. The air is not chilled in any capacity and cannot reach all areas of the large space to be cooled. In fact, industrial ceiling fans seem to be particularly more effective in the winter to improve heating operations by giving airflow to warm air.

Port-A-Cool Evaporative Coolers

The convenience and portability of Port-A-Cool evaporative cooling units makes them a perfect fit for use in airplane hangers, machine shops, engineering facilities, gymnasiums, cafeterias, gun ranges, barracks and many other locations. Port-A-Cool units do not require chemicals, special outlets, set up, or installation. The units come fully assembled and will only require a standard electrical outlet and a supply of tap water.

A Port-A-Cool evaporative cooler actually works with a supply of outside ambient air to deliver a temperature reduction by as much as 30 degrees Fahrenheit depending on the humidity. It should be noted, however, that even in the highest humidity regions, temperature drops can occur because as the temperature rises, humidity levels go down.

The technology at the center of an evaporative cooling system is the cellulose pad that collects water. Air passes through the pads and is cooled as the water evaporates. The cellulose pad material is specially treated to prevent rot as well as ensure a long service life. A special water distribution system spreads water over the surface of the pad within the cooling unit to ensure a uniform water supply.  This keeps the entire air-contact surface of the pad thoroughly wet. A control system operates the water pump and distributes the cool air.

Port-A-Cool portable evaporative coolers from Port-A-Cool, LLC provide a natural, highly-effective cooling alternative to fans and air conditioners. Port-A-Cool evaporative cooling products utilize the all-natural evaporative cooling process to cool temperatures by as much as 30 degrees Fahrenheit. This evaporative cooling process is perfected by the state-of-the-art technology in the company’s KÜÜL® pads. KÜÜL pads, manufactured in the USA, are the high-efficiency rigid cooling media that make all the difference in providing advanced evaporative cooling. Testing has proven KÜÜL pads to perform at superior levels for highest tensile, dry crush, and wet crush strengths per square inch.

QP400 allows the user to enhance their natural hearing so that they can hear sounds that cannot be heard with their ears alone. It also enables the user hear sounds around them ensuring that retain their localized situational awareness. Vital for their personal safety and security.

QP400 continuously adapts to the noise environment, always providing the correct level of protection, but never over protecting. The QUIETPRO® is developed to only attenuate what is absolutely necessary and only for as long as the protection is needed. When the dangerous noise is no longer present, QUIETPRO® immediately restores full hearing capability.

QUIETPRO® is designed to allow for intelligible communication in high noise environments up to 110-115dB. QUIETPRO® attenuation > 40 dB for Impulsive noise protection. Overall passive attenuation of the foam tips - SNR 34dB (EN352-2).

QP400 incorporates digital Active Noise Reduction (ANR) that provides further attenuation for low frequency noises in additional to that provided by the foam ear tips. This highly stable digital ANR system automatically activates (only when required) and cancels out the rumbling of the low frequency noise from sources such as armoured vehicles (tracked and wheeled), large engines, boats, fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.

QUIETPRO® has undergone many extensive and rigorous evaluation and assessment programs by independent test and validation organizations in Europe, Australia and the United States. With the exception of impulse noise testing above 160dB (explosions), testing has been conducted on human beings to assure accurate and realistically reliably results.

Soldier Hearing Protection

QP400 automatically performs a FIT TEST of the in-ear headset to ensure that a good level of hearing protection and clear two-way communications are obtained. This feature provides the user with confidence that a high level of protection is being achieved.

QP400 can be configured to connect multiple radio and communication systems. Up to 4 separate communication channels.

QP400 can connect a variety of headset types, including; the QUIETPRO in-ear high noise headset, circumaural ‘muff’ headset, on-ear / single sided headset and less overt headsets. The user is able to choose the headset and adapt the QP400 to meet their requirements or personal preference.

QP400 provides the user with an intuitive MENU function with voice feedback provided through the headset. This enables the user to control the modes and operation of the QUIETPRO system to meet their requirements and preferences. This voice feedback can be provided in different languages.

The QP400 has been designed to facilitate rapid mount-dismount transitions with mobility platforms, while maintaining continuous connectivity to the communications network.

QUIETPRO In-ear Military Headset

The new QUIETPRO in-ear headset is now available with a custom moulded ear tip or the comfort improved ear tip PROTIP. The PROTIP provides a very high level of attenuation of noise (independently tested), with a significant improvement in user comfort. Consequentially, the headset can be worn continuously for extended periods of time.

The QP400 has been designed with the capacity to introduce new features and capability enhancements through software modifications only.

Overview of the QP400
